What We Do

What We Do:

School counselors are uniquely trained to support the academic, personal/social, and career development of all students. This is done through a developmental and comprehensive program that includes:

  • School Guidance Curriculum: Structured lessons designed to help students acquire knowledge and skills appropriate for their developmental level.
  • Inpidual Student Planning: Ongoing activities to help students establish personal goals and develop future plans.
  • Responsive Services: Prevention/Intervention activities to meet students' immediate and future needs.
  • System Support: Establishing, maintaining, and enhancing the school counseling program.

Confidentiality:

Discussions with your school counselors are confidential, unless you give us permission to share. Exceptions to confidentiality are:

  • Information necessary for your teachers, school staff, or others to know
  • Your safety is in danger
  • Some else’s safety is in danger

Qualifications

The professional middle school counselor holds a Master’s degree in School Counseling and attends professional development opportunities in order to further refine and improve skills and programs.

Professional school counselors may also maintain membership in professional organizations in order to maintain access to additional resources and knowledge. Professional School Counselors maintain all ethical guidelines outlined in the American School Counseling Association Code of Ethics (ASCA, 2013).
