Citing Your Sources/Noodletools

What is the purpose of using citations and creating a works cited page?

  • To give credit to your sources

  • To show the reader where you found the facts, quotes, and data in your project or paper so they can refer to the source for further information if they so desire

Here is a link to the Alderwood Middle School MLA 8 Handbook with templates for creating your own works cited page: AMS MLA Handbook

See this link or for citing other sources.

When creating  in-text citations, use the first piece of information from the works cited entry for that source. If citing a book, use the author's last name and page number (no comma between the two). When possible, use the author's last name for other types of sources. If there is no author, use the first piece of information in the works cited.
